Overview
The Staff Accountant will be a key member of Planet Fitness’s accounting team and will be responsible for daily and monthly accounting functions necessary to support month-end, quarterly, and year-end close. This position will work within the accounting department, focusing on cash management, banking applications, account reconciliations, and journal entry preparation. This position will assist with transactional accounting and administrator functions, ensuring the accuracy of cash activity, proper application of deposits, and timely completion of general ledger reconciliations. The role will also support expense reporting, provide assistance with accounting system administration, and contribute to ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed. This is a hybrid role based out of our Hampton, NH office. Responsibilities
Assist with the month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting close process and ensure proper application of US GAAP Complete balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring proper support is attached and SOX standards are maintained Monitor bank account activity and assist with coding and booking electronic deposits as well as reconciling bank accounts Initiate multi-currency wire payments in respective bank accounts Prepare, review, and file sales and use tax returns, ensuring compliance with state and local regulations Reconcile, approve, and track sales and use tax payments made with third party provider Prepare journal entries for entry into the general ledger system monthly by collecting necessary data, analyzing, and preparing audit trail support for the journal entries Perform accounting data entry tasks and complete other accounting clerical tasks to provide support to the finance team Assist with ad hoc analysis and special assignments in a timely manner, as necessary. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, preferred 1-3 years’ experience or exposure to accounting Skilled in MS Office Suite Proficient in Excel and using advanced formulas, including V-Lookups and Pivot Tables A team player that can work independently, and has the flexibility and willingness to take on other tasks as assigned Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives Excellent presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization Able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally Dedicated learner with a natural curiosity for consistent growth Exhibits comfort, ease, and flexibility working in an extremely fast-paced ever-changing, deadline-driven environment Cooperative team player with an upbeat, positive, “can-do” attitude!
