Job Description – Credit Risk Analyst

Position Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Credit Risk Analyst who reports to the Head, Risk Management, and is responsible for analyzing credit data and financial information to determine risk associated with granting loans and credit to clients.
The responsibilities for this role will include evaluating the financial status and credit repayment capability of potential credit customers and making suitable recommendations to the Head Enterprise Risk Management/Chief Credit & Compliance Officer on Credit Approval Memo (CAM) received from relationship managers in line with the credit policy/underwriting standards of the bank and all relevant regulatory provisions for informed credit decisions.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct thorough analysis of financial statements and assessment of credit requests, including new requests, changed requests, refinancing and periodic due diligence reviews. Present analysis, findings, and recommendations to managers, especially findings that involve a borrower’s ability to repay. Conduct independent evaluation of the Credit Risk Rating of credit obligors to confirm that it meets the minimum threshold required for the credit type. Liaising with the Group Credit Office for CAMs requiring Technical Input of the Group Executive Credit Committee (ECC) Build, maintain, and improve credit risk underwriting standards in the bank. Provide credit policy training to the relationship managers to improve the credit underwriting and policy compliance standards in the bank. Effective liaison with the credit underwriting/risk rating application provider of the bank to ensure the continuous proper functioning of the application with relevant upgrades as may be required. Support the preparation of committee materials and other reports related to the Bank’s credit risk exposure/underwriting process Conduct periodic portfolio reviews, extract and present relevant learning points for credit policy improvement. Ensure the bank’s credit risk policies and processes are regularly updated to comply with regulatory guidance and execute credit processes as required by the credit policy Complies with all UBA America legal and regulatory requirements, adheres to the Branch’s Code of Conduct, attends regular periodic training on core Branch policies, and reports any known or suspected violations of the Code of Conduct to UBA America management. Any other non-conflicting risk management function as may be assigned by the Head Enterprise Risk or Chief Credit & Compliance Officer. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with a concentration in finance, economics, statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred 5+ years’ related credit experience including working knowledge of lending and underwriting practices Experience and ability to perform ongoing, independent financial analysis of borrowers to confirm willingness and capacity to repay in accordance with regulatory expectations for commercial lending. Strong oral and written communication skills Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access and Visual Basic Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proven statistical, spreadsheet and simulation skills Strong internet search capabilities. Preferred Qualifications
Experience: Knowledge of regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act (including the USA PATRIOT Act), OFAC sanctions programs, etc. General: Detail-oriented individual with ability to conduct in-depth research and possess strong communication skills. Strong analytical skills. Must be able to demonstrate strong writing capabilities. Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently. Must be well-organized and capable of performing multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to prioritize and use sound judgment. Excellent ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Education & Qualifications: ACAMS certification is required. Familiarity with TMS; preferably, Prime Compliance Suite. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point; Lexis-Nexis, World-Check, Banker’s Almanac, etc. Strong internet search capabilities.
