Position Overview The Audit Associate (Experienced Level) is responsible for supporting and executing audit engagements for governmental clients under the supervision of senior staff and managers. You’ll be entrusted with more ownership over audit areas, assist in coaching junior team members, and continue to develop your technical and analytical skills in a team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform audit procedures for governmental clients in accordance with Government Auditing Standards.
Take ownership of assigned audit sections – including planning, testing, and documentation.
Assist in preparing financial statements, footnote disclosures, and management letters.
Evaluate internal controls, identify issues, and propose practical recommendations.
Communicate engagement status, findings, and progress clearly with team leaders and clients.
Support and review the work of entry-level staff, providing guidance as needed.
Contribute to process improvements and maintain audit documentation quality.
Handle confidential client information with professionalism and discretion.
Participate actively in firm training and continuing professional education (CPE).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
1–3 years of public accounting or audit experience (governmental audit experience preferred).
Working knowledge of GAAP and GAAS.
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with audit software tools.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Collaborative mindset with a focus on teamwork and client service.
Actively pursuing CPA certification (preferred or required within a specified timeline).
