Job Summary The Senior Staff Accountant plays a critical role in supporting financial health and strategic direction of the healthcare organization. This role combines advanced accounting responsibilities with financial analysis to provide actionable insights that drive operational efficiency, cost control, and strategic growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, healthcare finance, and data analytics, and will collaborate closely with leadership across departments. Job Responsibilities Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Manage general ledger activities including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations. Maintain and update fixed asset schedules and construction-in-progress accounts. Perform bank, prepaid expense, and other balance sheet reconciliations. Support audit and cost report preparation and serve as liaison with external auditors and regulatory agencies. Ensure compliance with healthcare-specific financial regulations and reporting standards. Assist in the development and monitoring of departmental and organizational budgets. Collaborate with department managers to review budget performance and identify variances. Prepare budget accountability reports and support cost control initiatives. Using financial systems, build effective reports that provide relevant information for customers, inform operational financial analysis, and support the financial modeling, ROI analysis, and scenario planning of strategic initiatives. Analyze trends in revenue, expenses, and utilization to identify opportunities for improvement and conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to support decision-making across departments. Analyze and interpret data related to healthcare strategic planning efforts, including service mix and pricing analysis. Evaluate the cost-effectiveness of healthcare services and initiatives, identifying opportunities for reducing expenses while maintaining quality care. Collaborate with hospital leadership to align financial performance with strategic goals using ad hoc reporting, and meetings with departmental leaders while tracking performance with department KPIs. Recommend and implement improvements to financial processes and internal controls. Other duties as assigned. Education Requirements Minimum: BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field Experience Requirements Minimum: Three (3) years' experience in General Ledger and Budgeting Preferred: Five (5) or more years' experience in Healthcare Accounting/Finance including GL, Budgeting and Analysis License/Certification Requirements None required Qualifications
