Hartzell seeks a Senior Accountant to support the finance team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for General Ledger management and day to day debits and credits. This role is a transactional level accountant and is responsible for oversight and back up for Accounts Receivals and Accounts Payable. The accountant should be a system expert ensuring transactional integrity and managing the GL rules. In addition, the Accountant will provide annual audit support. The ideal candidate will possess critical thinking skills, a strong willingness to learn, resilience in challenging situations, and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities. Exposure to SOX compliance would be a plus. The Accountant will collaborate closely with site personnel to ensure the timely, accurate and relevant financial analysis and reporting. Key Deliverables
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger and confirm that GL accounts are recorded promptly and accurately in accordance with internal accounting policies. Perform analysis on variances, understand drivers and communicate / share information with management Serve as a system expert, ensuring transactional integrity within financial software and tools. Apply expertise in SOX compliance and ensure that financial processes are in line with standards. Process Improvement
Drive initiatives for cost-cutting, continuous improvement and streamlining initiatives
Requirements
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 2-5 years of experience. Required Technical Competencies
Exposure and Strength in the following areas : a. Knowledge of creating and reviewing journal entries for accuracy b. Cost accounting and standard costing c. Internal controls and auditing d. Accounts Payable and Receivable Management 2) Proficient Computer Skills – MS Office a. Advanced Excel Functions i. Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP’s, etc. b. ERP or similar business systems exposure 3) Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to synthesize financial issues for communication to a non-financial audience. Behavioral Characteristics Accountability – Takes responsibility for one’s tasks, actions and the quality of work. Is accountable to meet established deadlines. Attention to Detail – Demonstrates a keen eye for detail to ensure that financial records, transactions and reports are accurate and free from errors.
