Senior Accountant at Hamamatsu Corporation. The role focuses on maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and financial systems. Primary duties include preparing, analyzing, and verifying accounts and accounting reports to furnish up-to-date information to management. Location: Hybrid position based in Bridgewater, NJ. Responsibilities
Financial & Compliance Liaison:
Serve as the primary liaison for financial, SOX compliance, and tax audits. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and supporting schedules. Monthly Close & GL Maintenance:
Facilitate and complete monthly close procedures to ensure the integrity of the company's financial stability and performance.
Review, analyze, and reconcile general ledger accounts, including monitoring the Inventory Clearing Account. Record various journal entries, such as Prepaid Insurance/Rent/Expense and Payroll Entries, and prepare/record accruals (e.g., Import Duty, Commission, Vacation Liability). Prepare schedules for items like Accrued Medical Claims, Prepaid Rent, and Employee Loans.
Banking & Cash Management:
Oversee cash management and reconciliation for Hamamatsu Corporation bank accounts. This includes recording various payments (Import Duty, Bank Service Charges) and managing foreign currency payments. Tax Management:
Maintain a master file of sales tax rates/codes for numerous states. Prepare, file, and pay sales tax returns. Fixed Assets:
Maintain the company’s Fixed Assets records. Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Minimum of 5 years of current, hands-on experience in Accounting and General Ledger applications. Technical Skills:
Experience with SAP Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office
Knowledge & Abilities:
Familiarity with US GAAP, State Sales/Use Tax regulations, ISO, and SOX compliance. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to consistently meet assigned deadlines. Ability to operate independently with minimal daily direction.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, including Excel. Experience dealing with all levels of management. Familiarity with Payroll processing and compliance. Knowledge of foreign exchange transactions. Pay and Benefits
The target base salary for this role at commencement of employment is expected to be between $74,000 - $94,000 annually. Final pay determinations will depend on factors including location, experience, knowledge, skills and qualifications.
