We are seeking a strategic and hands‑on
Controller
to lead the development of a scalable accounting function for a rapidly growing organization in the
manufacturing and construction
sectors. This newly created role offers the opportunity to build financial operations from the ground up, implement systems and controls, and partner closely with executive leadership and private equity stakeholders. Key Responsibilities:
Establish and lead the accounting department, including team structure, systems, policies, and internal controls. Evaluate and improve existing financial processes to support compliance, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency. Collaborate with executive leadership and private equity partners to align financial operations with strategic goals. Oversee the transition from QuickBooks to a more robust ERP system, supporting automation and integration across business units. Support financial planning, budgeting, and reporting for both manufacturing and service divisions, with a strong understanding of construction‑related accounting practices. Qualifications:
Proven experience building or restructuring accounting functions in a growth‑oriented environment. Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial compliance. Experience working with private equity‑backed companies is highly preferred. Background in
manufacturing and/or construction industries
is strongly preferred. Proficiency in QuickBooks and ERP systems; experience leading ERP implementations is a plus. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally. CPA highly preferred. Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
