Overview The School of Korean at Middlebury College announces vacancies for temporary Bilingual Assistant in Korean for the Summer 2026 session on the Middlebury campus in Middlebury, Vermont. The 8-week program runs June 14 – August 15, 2026, combining cultural immersion with rigorous daily instruction.

Responsibilities

Program ambassador: Serves as primary in-language point of contact; knowledgeable about the program and campus resources; engages with students outside class; supports Language Pledge; represents the School and Middlebury community.

Student life: Represents the School in the dorms and social spaces; resides in dorms; provides guidance and non-academic support; monitors Language Pledge; organizes social activities; responds to emergencies and directs students to appropriate offices.

Co-curricular activities and events: Assists Director in facilitating cultural program; liaises with campus offices; hosts official guests; assists faculty, guests, and director at events; coordinates inter-school activities; attends program events as crowd managers and animators.

Academic support: Assists with student testing; practices Korean with students if needed.

Technology: Provides IT support; curricular technology training and support for faculty; manages circulation of School technology and film archive; provides technical support at events and in classrooms.

Communications: Communicates with students and faculty across platforms; designs and edits web content; develops media content and publications; manages photography and videography; translates School and official Middlebury documents.

School office: Administers School office; serves as in-language contact for drop-in assistance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; advanced degree a plus.

Native or near-native proficiency in Korean and English, oral and written.

Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Ability to work with people of all ages and levels; willingness to take initiative and assume responsibility, while also collaborating on a team.
