Bilingual Assistant in Korean (Summer 2026 LSK004)
The School of Korean at Middlebury College is pleased to announce vacancies for a temporary Bilingual Assistant in Korean. The position is available during the summer 2026 session on the Middlebury College campus in Middlebury, Vermont. Our unique 8‑week program (June 14‑August 15, 2026) combines cultural immersion with rigorous daily classroom instruction.
Salary will be determined based on experience and academic credentials. Lodging and a complete meal plan will be provided.
Responsibilities
Program ambassador: serves as primary in‑language point of contact for students and faculty, knowledgeable about program and campus resources.
Supports students’ commitment to the Language Pledge and the rigorous learning environment.
Represents the School’s administration in dorms and social spaces (on evenings and weekends if needed).
Resides in dorms; provides guidance and non‑academic support; monitors adherence to the Language Pledge; organizes social activities in dorms.
Responds to student emergencies and urgent situations; directs students to appropriate offices and resources.
Assists Director in facilitating the School’s cultural program and coordinates inter‑school activities.
Provides general IT support for faculty, guests, and students; manages circulation of School technology, equipment, and film archive.
Communicates with students and faculty on a variety of platforms: email, website, social media, print media, announcements.
Manages photography and videography; edits photo and video content; prepares slideshows, photo exhibits, event videos.
Provides technical support at events, from basic audio‑visual at lectures to sound and light design at staged performances.
Qualifications
Strong preference for a Bachelor’s Degree; advanced degree a plus.
Native or near‑native proficiency in Korean and English, oral and written.
Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (both oral and written).
Ability to work with people of all ages and levels (students, professionals, and colleagues).
Willingness to take initiative and assume responsibility while working collaboratively as part of a team.
