Mortgage Loan Officer II job at First Mid in Peoria, IL. At First Mid, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e., bonus, incentives, and/or commission). Responsible for producing a high volume of good quality consumer and real estate loans. Also responsible for ordering credit reports, analyzing data, approving or denying credit requests, and collection of delinquent loans.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Interview loan applicants, explaining loan options, rates, terms, and collateral requirements; gather the required information to provide a complete application to the appropriate loan processor.

Conduct loan closings, ensuring all documents are appropriately signed and underwriting conditions are met. Take all necessary steps to perfect the Bank's lien position.

Disburse funds for construction and home improvement loans in accordance with Bank guidelines.

Manage and supervise individual loan portfolios. Develop and maintain existing customer relationships and build customer satisfaction and confidence in the Bank.

Maintain the asset quality of the lending portfolio. Review delinquency reports, perform routine follow-up with past-due customers, and coordinate collection efforts with other loan officers. Repossess and liquidate collateral when necessary, working with the Bank's attorney for court actions.

Analyze and make decisions regarding the Bank's credit check program and collect delinquent accounts.

Review daily overdrafts, determine whether to return or pay checks, and follow up on accounts overdrawn over ten (10) days.

Assist other loan officers with underwriting questions or program information.

Order title work for real estate loans, review the same, and handle any curative matters that may arise.

Proactively develop and maintain a network of business relationships with Realtors, Attorneys, and other professionals to generate referrals for mortgage lending opportunities.

Cross-sell bank products and services professionally.

Complete required training related to the job function.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent advanced training in a financial institution or loan setting.

Must register and maintain a status in good standing under the SAFE Act requirements.

Skills:

High level of interpersonal skills to interact professionally with customers and potential customers.

Ensure exceptional customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other business areas, and government agencies.

High level of direct marketing skills necessary for ongoing relationship building with referral sources.

Strong analytical skills for loan analysis, considering market trends, credit/interest rates, and economic conditions.

Good understanding of the company's products and services.

Effective cross-selling, management, and organizational skills.

Knowledge of internal policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.

Flexibility to work outside normal hours if required.
