At First Mid, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e., bonus, incentives, and/or commission). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Interviewing loan applicants, explaining loan options, rates, terms, and collateral requirements; gathering necessary information to complete applications. Conducting loan closings, ensuring all documents are signed and underwriting conditions are met, and perfecting the Bank’s lien position when necessary. Disbursing funds for construction and home improvement loans following Bank guidelines. Managing and supervising individual loan portfolios, developing and maintaining customer relationships, and building customer satisfaction and confidence. Maintaining asset quality, reviewing delinquency reports, following up with past due customers, and coordinating collection efforts. Repossessing and liquidating collateral when necessary, in coordination with the Bank’s attorney. Analyzing and making decisions regarding the Bank’s credit check program and collecting delinquent accounts. Reviewing daily overdrafts, determining whether to return or pay checks, and following up on accounts overdrawn over ten days. Assisting other loan officers with underwriting questions or program information. Ordering and reviewing title work for real estate loans and addressing any issues that arise. Proactively developing a network of business relationships with Realtors, Attorneys, and other professionals for referrals. Cross-selling bank products and services professionally. Completing required training related to the job function. Performing other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent advanced training in a financial setting. Must register and maintain good standing under the SAFE Act requirements. Skills: Strong interpersonal skills for professional interactions with customers and colleagues. Exceptional customer service knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulations. Effective relationship-building skills with coworkers, government agencies, and referral sources. Proficiency in marketing and establishing referral networks. Analytical skills for loan analysis considering market trends, credit rates, and economic conditions. Knowledge of the Bank’s products, services, and regulatory environment. Organizational and cross-selling skills. Understanding of internal policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Flexibility to work outside regular hours if needed.
