Accountant- Construction
Detail-oriented and organized professional to provide accounting, and contract support within a fast-paced general construction environment. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on multitasking, supporting project teams, and ensuring the financial and contractual integrity of ongoing construction projects.
Accounting & Financial Duties:
· Back up to processing accounts payable and accounts receivable.
· Support payroll processing and certified payroll reporting.
· Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and project cost reports.
· Assist with monthly and quarterly financial reporting and job cost analysis.
· Support preparation of tax filings and coordination with external accountants.
Compliance & Documentation
· Manage lien waivers, releases, and project closeout documentation.
· Ensure proper retention and electronic filing of all accounting and project-related records.
· Maintain compliance with state and local tax requirements, workers’ compensation, and insurance audits.
· Track vendor and subcontractor certificates of insurance and license renewals.
Assist team when needed: (cross-trained)
Administrative & Contract Support as needed
Prepare, review, and maintain project documentation, contracts, change orders, and lien waivers as needed
Track project progress reports, submittals, and compliance documentation (insurance certificates, safety forms, etc.).
Assist with prequalification, vendor setup, and subcontractor compliance tracking.
Coordinate communication between project managers, subcontractors, and accounting.
Support bid and proposal preparation, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in construction accounting (preferred in general contracting).
Working knowledge of construction billing (AIA format), lien waiver processes, and cost coding.
Proficiency in QuickBooks.
Strong Excel and document management skills.
Understanding of payroll, taxes, and financial reporting.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
