AdventHealth Tampa, a faith‑based not‑for‑profit 626‑bed tertiary‑level acute care hospital located in the uptown district of Tampa, Florida, specializes in advanced cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience and neurology, digestive health, orthopedics, women's services, pediatrics, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, sleep medicine and general surgery including minimally invasive and robot‑assisted procedures. GME programs on the hospital campus currently include general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine and transitional year.

The Role You'll Contribute The Coder Analyst I, under general supervision of the Outpatient Coding Supervisor, is responsible for assigning codes to ER and outpatient ancillary medical records, using ICD‑10‑CM and CPT codes via the 3m Encoder and Dolbey Computer Assisted Coding application. Abstracts the patient's account with the assigned codes and finalizes the abstract in Cerner. Reviews scripts for Medical Necessity in the outpatient ancillary area. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan, to the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and to the standards of all accrediting bodies.

The Value You’ll Bring To The Team Encourages teamwork by working collaboratively within the department as well as with other departments to ensure accounts are coded and billed timely. Occasionally trains others, as in orientation of new employees or acting as a preceptor for workers learning new skills. Occasional contact with physicians and their office staff. Communicates to various departments when charges need added, deleted, or changed and when discharge dispositions and patient type/status needs clarified.

Qualifications

High School Graduate or equivalent – Required

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) – Required

Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) – Required

Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) – Required
