Responsibilities
Supervise fundraising activities of the Synod’s national office in accordance with Board policies.
Oversee content of communications, public relations, and news provided by the Synod.
Provide leadership, coordination, and oversight for pre‑seminary education programs, seminary education, and post‑seminary continuing education, and advocate for pastoral education and health.
Assist in preparing and reviewing budgets and financial reports for the CMO Office and Mission units.
Coordinate travel arrangements and oversee the contracts process in support of LCMS mission and ministry.
Conduct special projects, information gathering, and research as assigned by the CMO.
Fulfill other duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationships
Reports directly to the Chief Mission Officer, with accountability to the President of the Synod.
Interacts regularly with LCMS officers, senior executive staff, and unit executives.
Collaborates with the Boards for National Mission and International Mission.
Essential Job Functions
Administer daily demands of the CMO Office by providing direct administrative support.
Maintain the CMO calendar and schedule appointments and meetings for Synod’s Chief Officers.
Coordinate travel arrangements and oversee contractors and staff to ensure efficient workflow and compliance with Board policies.
Assist in reviewing budgets and financial reports and coordinate approvals of expenditures per policies.
Conduct special projects, information gathering, and research as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with a minimum of three years in an administrative or management position.
Active member in good standing of an LCMS congregation.
Financial background: understanding of large organization financial statements and unit budgets.
Demonstrated success working on a dynamic, fast‑paced team with significant responsibilities.
Competencies
Knowledge of LCMS structure and its related entities.
Strong administrative and organizational skills.
Ability to analyze and recommend efficiency improvements.
Teamwork and facilitation skills.
Prioritization, planning, and multitasking under pressure.
Microsoft 365 proficiency and technological aptitude.
Excellent communication and listening skills.
Supervisory Responsibility None.
