Position Overview Function as a paraprofessional overseeing and performing activities to maintain medical records systems at the Carson City Correctional Facility. Work involves applying knowledge of methods, practices, procedures, policies, regulations, and laws related to medical record creation and use. Serve as the senior worker in the medical record department. This position involves regular unsupervised access and direct contact with inmates. It is located inside the secure perimeter of a multi-level prison and is subject to drug and alcohol testing.

Education

Possession of an associate's degree in health information or medical record technology.

Experience

Medical Record Examiner 8:

No specific experience required.

Medical Record Examiner 9:

One year of experience equivalent to a Medical Record Examiner 8.

Medical Record Examiner E10:

Two years of experience, including one year equivalent to a Medical Record Examiner 9.

Certifications Certification by the American Health Information Management Association as a Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator is required.

Additional Requirements The Department of Corrections will not hire individuals with felony convictions or pending felony charges, in accordance with Public Act 140 of 1996.
