Assistant Cook

Reporting to the Head Cook (or his/her delegate), the Assistant Cook is responsible for assisting with food preparation including chopping, cutting, marinating and peeling at the assigned store or Central Kitchen. The Assistant Cook is also responsible for checking the quality/quantities of receiving food products, storing received products, and maintaining cleanliness of kitchen utensils, tools, containers, clothes, towels, work areas and food storage areas. Responsibilities
Assist Head Cook with food preparation tasks (e.g., chopping, cutting, marinating, peeling) at the assigned location. Check quality and quantities of incoming food products and ensure proper storage conditions. Maintain cleanliness of station, kitchen utensils, tools, containers, clothes, towels and storage areas before and after each shift. Ensure recipes, ingredient specifications, quantities, quality and cooking times follow SOPs. Maintain sanitation standards as directed by the Head Cook and food safety guidelines. Ensure product quality, food safety, freshness and FIFO practices within the department. Ensure proper storage and handling of food with accurate temperature records. Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, equipment and tools; manage waste, recycling and disposable items properly. Qualifications
Knowledge and experience in kitchen production (e.g., BBQ, Hot Foods, Dim Sum, Sushi, and/or other semi-finished products). 1 to 3+ years of relevant experience. Knowledge of workplace health & safety and food safety; Food Safe Certification is preferred. English communication required; Cantonese and/or Mandarin is advantageous. Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays. Basic computer skills (MS Office). Benefits
