Job Summary:
The Assistant Controller is responsible for providing accounting support to the Total Care Auto accounting team in the form of accurate and timely processing of reports, reconciliations, and filings.
Reporting to:
Director of Finance & Accounting Primary Duties: Monthly, quarterly, & annual reconciliations. Generate financial reports for senior leadership. Responsible for investment reconciliations and investment related journal entries. Assist with SOX Reporting. Assist with oversight of accounts receivable and accounts payable functions. Assist with weekly invoicing. Prepare weekly and monthly transmittals. Prepare bank reconciliations. Prepare monthly & bi-monthly spiff reports. Assist with all external and internal audits. Prepare and comply with all state required filings. Special Projects as assigned. Be a teacher to support the efforts of other employees to be successful. Operate with integrity. Demand the highest ethical standards from self and others. Set an example of outstanding attendance, positive attitude, professionalism, including orderly and safe work environment. Qualifications: Four or more years’ experience in an accounting environment, knowledge of insurance accounting preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Familiar with financial reporting/regulations. Knowledge of insurance industry preferred. Familiar with accounting systems. Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Physical Requirements: Physical requirements include: sitting, standing, visual attention, and occasional lifting. Mental requirements include: reading of related material, visual attention and attention to detail.
