Overview
Wichita State University Foundation and Alumni Engagement (WSUFAE) is hiring a Staff Accountant to join the finance team. The role focuses on managing and reporting scholarship funds, supporting financial operations, and stewarding donor resources. You will collaborate with a dedicated team and represent Wichita State University with professionalism, contributing to a culture of integrity, excellence, collaboration, and service.
With a team of more than 50 professionals, WSUFAE supports fundraising and donor and alumni relationships. WSUFAE manages nearly $400 million in assets and serves thousands of alumni worldwide. This is an exciting time to contribute to advancing Shocker Nation.
Responsibilities
Scholarship Fund Compliance, Audit & Review
Review, reconcile, and record scholarship fund activity to ensure compliance with donor intents, internal policies, university policies, and local and state regulations.
Maintain accurate records of scholarship awards and provide fast and accurate disbursements; gather information about fund status and disseminate complete guidelines to appropriate internal and campus personnel.
Prepare internal audit reports for management.
Collaborate with financial aid, campus administrators, the development team, and other staff to verify and proactively ensure proper fund usage.
Account Setup
Review documentation forms and set up new funds in Raisers Edge and Financial Edge.
Provide support on fund guidelines and status inquiries from development staff; disseminate completed guidelines to appropriate campus personnel.
Financial Closing & Reporting
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
Assist in preparing documentation for audits and financial reporting.
Ensure proper classification and recording of financial transactions.
Accounts Payable & Gift Processing
Provide backup assistance for accounts payable, including invoice processing and vendor payments.
Support gift processing functions by ensuring accurate and timely recording of donations.
Assist with reconciling donor contributions and fund allocations.
Other Duties
Perform any other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
Experience working with information tracking and projects

Physical Requirements
Frequent and sudden movements from sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and walking

Frequent lifting up to 20 pounds
Occasional exposure to outdoors with hot and inclement weather
Preferred Requirements and Skills
Data management, process documentation, and/or compliance experience in a higher education setting
Database knowledge
Knowledge of Wichita State University and a commitment to higher education
