Primary Responsibilities
Overall project lead across high-complexity, multi-workstream engagements and accurately diagnose client issues to develop strategic solutions.
Build consensus among senior client stakeholders and establish optimal communication cadence with C‑Suite executives.
Oversee managers and team members of individual workstreams, coordinate and harmonize the overall approach, and own content development.
Expert in one or more industry areas (e.g., enterprise strategy, value‑based care, population health, consumer, digital, revenue diversification, partnerships) and use engagements to advance knowledge.
Critical role in developing project team members and direct reports to expand their skills.
Accountable for budget and timelines of project across all workstreams and ensure project economics and profitability.
Provide subject‑matter expertise to other Optum Advisory and UnitedHealth Group business units as it relates to strategy development.
Communicate effectively and accurately in writing and verbally to prospects, clients, and other staff.
Contribute to business development efforts and add‑on work as well as new business.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in management consulting (Big 3 / Big 4 / Big 6 / Boutique).
5+ years of experience in strategy consulting with provider‑based clients.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Proven business development experience and success generating at least $1.5M+ annually in new sales.
Client relationship management experience.
Experience with project management, developing and presenting deliverables to C‑Suite executives, and conducting own as well as reviewing team member analytics.
Experience leading strategy work and/or strategic initiatives.
Demonstrated familiarity with variety of problem‑solving approaches.
Ability to drill down to the root cause of issues and be creative in problem solving.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite – Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
Ability to travel domestically, up to 50%.
Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of professional experience in healthcare.
Experience managing projects that achieved budget and timeline goals.
Experience working in and successfully navigating a matrixed environment.
Experience mentoring junior level staff and leading direct reports.
Possess analytical reasoning and solution‑focus problem solving.
Ability to lead and motivate cross‑functional teams.
Proven written and verbal communication skills.
All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.
Pay The salary for this role will range from $132,200 to $226,600 annually based on full‑time employment. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
