Job Summary As a member of the Credit & Surety Treaty Department, primary activities will be to negotiate, underwrite and manage the business of reinsurance of credit, surety and potentially mortgage risk for North American cedents. Utilizing SCOR\'s various underwriting systems and tools, the candidate will also help with the pricing, selection and monitoring of reinsurance offers. The candidate will help service special acceptances and help maintain positive trading relations with clients and brokers. Other activities may include performing market studies for the further development of the department and SCOR Global P&C Reinsurance.

The CSPR treaty team is comprised of 15 people and its markets are divided between North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, and the team is recognized to be among the leaders for this line of business. North America is currently serviced out of New York.

Our North American clients are primarily Surety companies that offer performance guarantees for a wide variety of obligations, whether compliance, legal, financial or contractual (e.g. performance obligations under construction contracts). The department also covers institutions specialized in offering trade credit insurance to companies for the risk of default on payment by their buyers due to insolvency, financial difficulties or political risks in the buyer\'s country (e.g. currency inconvertibility, embargos, civil unrest etc.).

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Develop quality business relationships with our clients, advising on conditions of insurance and reinsurance (general conditions, prices ...)

Investigate, negotiate and underwrite reinsurance submissions (Principal / buyer balance sheet analysis, portfolio analysis of ceding companies, sector and country risk analysis, analysis of the conditions for the selection and the pricing of (re-insurance))

Support on-going tasks relating to the management and monitoring of the in-force portfolio as well as new business (data management / coordination, aggregation reporting, recording of new and renewal business, contract review, etc.)

Conduct statistical and technical studies within your area of responsibility to gain a better and thorough understanding of the markets within the respective countries, to promote and help to establish this line of business and to increase our influence and relevance for the sector within the market

Perform client portfolio visits and file audits to gain a better and thorough understanding of the cedent\'s underwriting approach, technical expertise and buyer risk analysis and to get a proper evaluation of (pending) claims

Cooperate with specialty claim department in the assessment/validation of any new claim

Provide input and help the local C&S team leader in preparing the North America contribution to the annual Credit & Surety treaty underwriting plan and initiatives

Participate in maintaining and developing the level of sophistication of the industry, attending industry events (e.g. NAIS, NASBP, SAC) and to establish long term relationship with our customers

Liaising and aligning market strategies with internal Key Client Managers and underwriters of other lines of business

Desired Experience & Competencies

5+ years in direct credit and/or surety insurance underwriting and/or credit and surety reinsurance is preferable.

Strong analytical skills, excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

Independent, organized and rigorous in your working style and willing to travel as necessary in the region.

Relocation assistance within the U.S. is available for this position. Candidates must have valid authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
