Pre-Analytical Assistant I role at Synectics Inc. supports the Technical Operations Department with general duties across specimen handling and processing. Responsibilities
Pre-Analytical Assistant I is responsible for general support functions within the Technical Operations Department. Perform manual tasks including sorting, racking, pickup and delivery of specimens to the laboratory, specimen storage, centrifugation, and aliquoting. May be trained to run sorters in archive mode. Learn job duties and understand how Tech Ops and Specimen Processing functions interact to affect quality and throughput. Identify problems with specimen types or missing information related to sorting, racking, centrifuging, delivery, and storage; resolve or forward information to support timely problem resolution. Understand compliance policies related to test ordering, including researching test order information on translation tables, computer systems, and the directory of services. Meet quality and production standards within 6 months of training completion. Complete all required written documentation so it is understandable, legible, and timely. Report to work on time and follow attendance guidelines; support department performance during coworker absences. Learn additional functions within Tech Ops and Specimen Processing to enable progression to the next level. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED. Medical background preferred, including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a production environment; effective communication with all levels of staff. Maintains composure under pressure; good judgment in problem resolution. Adheres to safety, compliance, and work process policies; works in a biohazard environment. Keeps workspace neat and clean; follows 5S standards. Physical ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods; lift up to 50 lbs.; maneuver carts/racks with specimens. Strong interpersonal skills; flexibility and adaptability; willingness to work weekends, holidays, on call, and overtime. Previous production experience preferred; familiarity with mainframe computers and basic data entry skills. Details
