Job Overview: A career opportunity to supervise offenders and support rehabilitation within the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Responsibilities Supervise offenders in housing units and Community Supervision Centers, ensuring safety, security, and compliance with facility rules.

Inspect housing units for safety and health hazards, prepare reports on offender violations and behaviors.

Conduct interviews with offenders to gather information on residential, family, employment, and educational relationships; verify background with family members, employers, and friends.

Retrieve and verify offender information from NCIC, MULES, Missouri Department of Revenue, and state correctional computer databases; process active warrants and enter or cancel warrants for escaped or absconded offenders.

Photograph and issue identification cards; ensure offenders have parole orders; assist with job search activities and monitor electronic monitoring schedules.

Assist in maintaining databases, shift records, vehicle logs, and inventory; troubleshoot equipment problems; answer and log emergency calls from offenders or the public.

Support Probation and Parole Officers with court hearings and home visits; supervise movement and location of offenders inside and outside the facility; intervene in emergencies, administer CPR, and control prescription and over‑the‑counter medication consumption.

Provide after‑hours assistance to departmental staff and the public; order, maintain, and issue supplies; exercise independence in performing duties and receive general administrative direction.

Qualifications

Minimum age: 18 years old

Valid Missouri vehicle operator's license

Background investigation clearance

Successful completion of safety training, including firearms/defensive tactics, CPR, First Aid, and annual re‑qualification

Completion of Missouri State Highway Patrol training in the Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System (MULES) prior to appointment

Stipends and Pay Increase

$2.00 per hour shift differential for shifts 12:00 pm–5:00 am at a 24/7 congregate care facility

$0.75 per hour maximum security stipend for full‑time work at a qualifying facility

$1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend for regular post within a restricted housing/segregation unit

The Department of Corrections offers a guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years.
