Overview
Personal Financial Counselor, PFC- Duluth, MN role at Magellan Health. This position provides personal financial services at assigned military installations and focuses on the full breadth of personal financial counseling for military service members and their families. Services include education and counseling addressing financial matters, such as one-on-one counseling, consultations with a commander or other providers or staff, briefings and presentations, and referrals outside the counseling context. The program collaborates with installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to ensure it remains within scope and meets installation needs. Responsibilities
Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families. Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences. Develop and distribute informational financial materials to service members and families. Coordinate, publicize, and deliver a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering topics across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, and personal and career events described in DoDI 1322.34). Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars. Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication (web-based, secure online chat, video-based communications, and secure video teleconference) as appropriate; virtual PFC support may require authorization by the OSD FINRED Program office. Manage duty-to-warn situations according to DoD protocol. Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trends and issues on assigned installations. Participate in regular in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned. Perform all other duties as assigned. Bachelor’s degree required. May consider an associate degree plus 4 years’ experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, or a high school diploma plus 6 years’ experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree. 3+ years of financial counseling experience. U.S. citizen and fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract. Ability to obtain a favorable adjudication for Tier 2 background investigation. Must be able to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process. One of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). General Job Information
