ST. The Urgent Care interacts collaboratively with primary care, emergency care and specialty providers within St. Charles Health System, as well as other non-associated entities. Position Overview
The St. Charles Urgent Care is staffed by physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) skilled in urgent and acute care. Requirements include the ability to work in a collaborative environment to provide rapid and efficient care for minor emergencies and illnesses. Duties may include basic physical exams (e.g., sports physicals, occupational exams). The ability to work efficiently and refer appropriately is crucial. The ability to stabilize patients needing higher levels of service while awaiting transport is required. The Urgent Care functions as a unified regional department with shifts rotated among current and future locations. Laboratory services and X-ray radiology services are typically integrated. Providers should have emergency department, urgent care, or primary care experience with substantial acute care exposure. Work Schedule
Shift-based model with a base of 1 FTE scheduled at 153 shifts per calendar year. Shifts are 12 hours in length. Shift counts are adjusted based on the provider FTE. Call Expectation
Providers are not expected to have call in the Urgent Care; however, 95% of shifts are expected to be covered due to call outs, unexpected absences, or any unfilled shift to ensure proper staffing at all times. Provider Practice Location

Essential Functions and Duties
(May perform additional duties of similar complexity within SCHS as required or assigned) Job Responsibilities
Practice medicine within the scope of license, training and credentialing. Cooperate with other SCHS providers to ensure optimal patient care.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual patient care with expertise in evidence-based urgent care.
Document all patient care in proper form in a timely manner per hospital policies and regulatory agencies.
Deliver first-rate customer service and patient care that is timely, efficient, accurate, and courteous.
Calculate dosages and order medications accurately per SCHS policies for best practices in medication administration.
Diagnose and manage minor illnesses and injuries (including children); stabilization and transfer of patients requiring higher level of care; perform emergency codes per ACLS and PALS guidelines.
Repair lacerations; incision and drainage of abscesses; treatment of skin infections; initial management of fractures/dislocations; foreign body removal; ingrown toenail removal; diagnose and treat eye infections/foreign bodies (including slit lamp).
Initial interpretation of X-ray; EKG interpretation; review of labs and imaging; assign dispositions and follow-up.
Willingness to provide short-term non-narcotic or scheduled medication refills for patients in provider transition; review of prescription monitoring data per policy on narcotic prescribing.
Provide therapeutic presence by listening to patient needs, introducing yourself, and engaging in patient-centered communication to determine care goals.

Attend mandatory educational offerings per SCHS policies and regulatory bodies.
Annual CME to maintain license/board certification.
Complete assigned computer-based learning modules.

Licensure/Certifications/Registration
Required: Unrestricted PA/NP licensure.
PA requires NCCPA certification; NP requires AANC, NCC or AANP; PAAbility to maintain SCHS Collaboration Agreement.
Unrestricted Federal DEA number.
Eligibility to participate in Medicare/Medicaid or other federal/state programs.
Valid driver’s license and SCHS driving requirements.
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications.
Additional certifications may be required based on privileges.
Preferred: Oregon PA/FNP license; Oregon DEA registration.
Epic EMR experience.
Experience
Required: Experience with EMR software.

Preferred: 2 years in emergency medicine, urgent care, or primary care with acute care component.
Five years of clinical leadership in urgent care or emergency medicine.
