$20/hour (applicant must be over the age of 18) About Us: The Overlook is a small, family-owned bouldering gym located in the heart of Atlanta. We pride ourselves on fostering a close-knit, community-oriented environment. Our camp program is designed to engage children in exciting, active, and creative experiences, including climbing/bouldering, arts and crafts, walks on the Belt Line, and other scheduled activities. Our climbing camp offers an exciting and enriching outdoor experience for children interested in rock climbing. Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Lead Camp Counselor to oversee and lead our camp activities. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about working with children, enjoys outdoor and creative activities, and thrives in a leadership position. As a Lead Camp Counselor, you will play a crucial role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and fun environment where campers can learn new skills, build confidence, and make lasting memories. Join our team and help inspire the next generation of climbers! Job Responsibilities:
Safety Supervision: Ensure the safety of campers during climbing activities, including harnessing, and spotting. Instruction: Teach basic climbing skills, techniques, and safety procedures to campers of varying skill levels. Activity Planning: Assist in planning and organizing daily climbing activities and challenges that cater to different age groups and skill levels. Group Management: Lead and manage a group of campers, ensuring participation, engagement, and adherence to camp rules and guidelines. Teamwork: Collaborate with fellow counselors and camp staff to create a positive and supportive camp environment. Daily Maintenance: Set up and break down climbing equipment and activities, maintain cleanliness and organization of climbing areas, and report any equipment issues or safety concerns. Communication: Provide daily updates to camp directors and parents regarding camper progress, achievements, and any concerns or incidents that may arise. Greet every family at drop off and pick up each day. Requirements/Qualifications:
Previous experience as a camp counselor, teacher, or in a similar role working with children. Consistent timeliness, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to manage and supervise support counselors effectively. Enthusiasm for outdoor activities, arts and crafts, and bouldering (experience with climbing is a plus, but not required). Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work effectively with children and adolescents Prior experience in a camp setting or working with youth is a plus CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before starting). Must pass a background check. Schedule:
