POLICE OFFICER TRAINEE
– Lake Havasu City Police Department
Status: Full-time, Classified (Non-Exempt) | Trainee Salary:
$29.90/hr

Location: Lake Havasu City, AZ | Department: Police Patrol
Closing date: Continuous
Police Officer rate following graduation from Police Academy:
$32.35/hr
Responsibilities and Role
Attend the Police Academy and transition to Police Officer after graduation.
Work schedule includes day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts. May work 10- or 12-hour shifts with pay differentials of 3% or 5% depending on shift.
Perform duties outdoors in varying temperatures and conditions as required by the assignment.
Required Qualifications
AZ State certification as a Police Officer (or upcoming eligibility per department process).
United States Citizenship.
Ability to pass a background investigation.
High school diploma or GED (preferably with Criminal Justice coursework and/or Military Service experience).
Arizona driver’s license (or ability to obtain one).
Selection Process Components
Physical agility testing including 500-yard run, obstacle course, chain/link fences, and body drag.
Written assignments, writing sample, and a series of interviews (Oral Board). Pre-approved testing phases may apply by invitation.
POST exam (online) with practice resources available; passing scores advance to further testing stages.
Background questionnaire, polygraph, and background investigation following interviews.
Working Environment and Technology
Department patrol vehicles equipped with Axon Fleet in-car cameras and in-car mobile computer; in-car speed radar in use.
AI-assisted report writing software is utilized to streamline reporting.
