Park Recreation Specialist – Parks & Recreation Department St. Charles County Go

Starting Salary: $52,225.88 per year
JOB DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this position is to provide a wide range of administrative and clerical support for the department in addition to being the primary point of contact and assistance for the public. This position provides support to the public for program registration, camping and shelter reservations, and wedding and special event coordination. The position also provides general public relations and informational support to the community. The position also coordinates event setup and teardown with park staff.
• Answers telephones and greets visitors. Provides information on facilities, programs and events within the County Parks system.
• Takes reservations for Park facilities and various programs at Park and Recreation facilities. Coordinates with vendors and park patrons regarding special documents required for specific facility reservations.
• Gives directions and offers general and specific information regarding Department facilities, policies, and procedures.
• Collects fee payments for the park’s services. Reconciles daily balances.
• Responsible for the coordination of weddings and other special events. Works directly with the public, answers questions and ensures that proper procedures are followed and paperwork is complete.
• Conducts facility tours for weddings and special event request.
• Works with multiple Parks Department Divisions to ensure proper staffing is available for reservations. Staffing requirements may include assistance with parking, check ins and check outs, and direct on site supervision during reservations.
• Reviews check out sheets provided by Park Rangers. Makes recommendations to Park Director regarding damage deposit retention or issuance of refunds.
• Assist the Marketing Coordinator at trade shows and events to market our facilities, weddings, birthday parties and special events.
• Creates monthly status and revenue reports for programs, events and customer satisfaction
• Resolves issues with Park patrons regarding rentals.
• Assist in Park Programming and activities outside of normal job duties and hours.
• Establishes and maintains office filing system.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Education
o Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation, Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Management or a related discipline required.
o Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation, Advertising, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Management or a related discipline required.
• Certifications
o Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required.
• Job Experience
o 2 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
o Expert in all Microsoft Office Suite applications.
o Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality customer service and public interaction.
o Knowledge of basic office practices, record keeping procedures and equipment.
o Requires independent judgment and initiative on assignments that are sensitive in nature.
