The Partnership team works in a hybrid capacity. This position is expected to be in schools 80% of the time, with occasional visits to the Partnership office in Downtown LA. The Partnership is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced Coordinator of Curriculum Systems Advising to join the Partnership’s K-12 Mathematics team to support the Partnership’s systems change efforts for high-need schools in Los Angeles. The Coordinator will help scale effective professional learning and curriculum implementation systems to LAUSD schools with a focus on mathematics. This role works with the Director of Curriculum Systems Advising and instructional leaders across a portfolio of up to 10 school sites to build durable systems for planning, instruction, and data analysis using a curriculum-first approach. The Coordinator supports school site designees to design and facilitate professional learning and collaborative experiences for teachers to build the capacity of instructional leaders to take on this work. It also supports the design and development of group learning professional development for instructional coaches, teacher leaders, and administrators in support of LAUSD’s math vision and goals. This is a full-time, year-round position and is grant-funded through summer 2029. It has a direct impact on the 2030 strategic plan through building systems of adult learning for school leaders and teachers, strengthening coaching, observation, and feedback cycles in math and ELA, and sharing promising practices with LAUSD and the education field. Position responsibilities include but are not limited to: Instructional Leader Capacity Building — Support the development of teacher leaders and distributed leadership across up to 10 school sites by coaching leaders. Partner with LAUSD staff and the Director on the Curriculum Systems Advising Team to build the capacity of school leadership teams in creating professional learning systems aligned with LAUSD priorities. Work with school leadership teams to implement high-quality mathematics curriculum while using data to adjust and strengthen instruction. Build a strong culture in school math departments by providing one-on-one capacity-building support to teacher leaders and maximizing PLC time. Model curriculum-first professional learning by planning and facilitating professional development at school sites. STRATEGIC PROFESSIONAL LEARNING DESIGN
Leverage knowledge of math standards at a grade span, CA Math Framework, and Illustrative Mathematics to design learning opportunities for instructional leaders. Collaborate with the Curriculum Systems Advising and Math teams to shape professional development pathways for teacher leaders, instructional coaches, and administrators. Support facilitation of group learning experiences district-wide, occasionally as lead facilitator. Lead the development and use of math curricular materials for a grade span, including curriculum maps, assessment tools, and other supports for teachers and students. Participate in collaborative spaces with other Partnership teams as needed and maintain positive relationships with school and district leadership. IMPLEMENTATION MONITORING & PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Conduct classroom observations and collect teacher practice data to support department-wide growth and student learning. Assist site leaders in observing for and supporting effective instruction of high-quality curriculum. Work with the Director of Curriculum Systems Advising and VP of School Transformation to develop and execute priority initiatives for math instruction at LAUSD schools. Maintain records related to school support, including observation data, ILT meetings, coaching, PD, and other requests. POSITION FIRST-YEAR PRIORITIES
A successful first year in this role will look like: Build credibility and relationships with LAUSD regional staff and school leadership teams. Ensure top-quality delivery of professional learning services through collaboration with the Curriculum Systems Advising Team. Ensure schools within the portfolio meet improvement milestones, as collaboratively determined with school and regional staff. Develop the necessary skills to lead work at school sites independently as needed. REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
At least 5 years of successful full-time teaching experience at the elementary/secondary level. At least 2 years of leadership experience within the school context; experience as an administrator is strongly preferred. Deep working knowledge of the Common Core Standards for Mathematics, the California Math Framework, and/or Illustrative Mathematics. Experience designing, organizing, and facilitating professional learning for adult learners. Experience leading teams through cycles of inquiry that improve teaching and learning practices. Experience with Illustrative Mathematics curriculum is a plus. A proven record of academic success in historically underserved schools with high expectations for teachers and students. Experience working across multiple schools is a plus. Strong project management, organization, and coordination skills with attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain complex ideas clearly. Ability to work collaboratively across diverse work styles and skill sets. Ability to travel between school sites and Partnership Home Office. A deep belief in the Partnership’s mission and values; commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The starting salary range for external/internal candidates is $114,179. The Partnership’s compensation practices are designed to be fair and transparent and salaries are determined by relevant skills, experiences, and tenure. Salaries are set according to the Partnership’s policy and may not be negotiated. The Partnership also offers a robust benefits package including employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents; a 403(b) retirement plan with employer match and vesting; parental and sabbatical leaves; a professional development allowance; and generous paid time off.
