The Renaissance Minneapolis Bloomington Hotel is seeking a creative, skilled, guest-focused Sous Chef to join their team of fun-spirited team members! The 250+ room hotel, with nearly 5,000 square feet of meeting space, is conveniently located for both business and leisure travelers. Must work evenings and weekends.

Our property is just a short drive from the world-famous Mall of America. Some of our features include a full-service modern American restaurant concept, offering creatively crafted interpretations of food and beverage with a Minnesota twist. Other amenities include an indoor, heated junior Olympic-sized pool, whirlpool, 24-hour fitness center, and a recent, complete remodel of the property with a local Minnesota theme.

This role has a salary range of $57K to $62K based on experience. The role will provide leadership and empower the Food & Beverage – Culinary TEAM to strive for excellence and repeat business. The Sous Chef will lead, mentor, and collaborate with our team of Chefs to prepare, cook, and present food to the highest standards, ensuring exceptional quality and guest satisfaction.

Essential Job Functions

Inspire outstanding customer service through positive leadership and dedication to guest satisfaction

Assist in managing all culinary activities and operations to uphold the highest quality standards

Contribute creatively to developing new menu items and promotions

Build strong working relationships across Food & Beverage and other hotel departments

Monitor and maintain standards for product quality, presentation, and production efficiency

Conduct audits of storeroom inventory and storage to ensure product quality, safety, and kitchen cleanliness

Lead Food and Beverage staff on Food Safety and Sanitation guidelines by demonstrating best practices, cultivating standards, and holding staff accountable

Assist with Banquet production and execution as needed

Lead the Line Cooks during restaurant hours on cooking techniques, menu adherence, and food quality standards

Assist the Executive Chef with training, staff management, and administrative tasks as needed

Stand in for the Executive Chef during their absence

Physical Demands

Lift, carry, move, or push goods on a hand cart/truck weighing up to 200 lbs. repeatedly

Stand and move for extended periods

Use manual dexterity to handle all kitchen equipment

Qualifications Education: Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Completion of a Culinary or Apprenticeship Program preferred.

Experience: At least 4 years of cooking experience in a hotel preferred, at least 4 years of experience in a similar role with a similar operation size. Managers' Food Handlers Certification required, Alcohol Beverage Servers Certification Preferred, OSHA certification or equivalent knowledge of OSHA regulations, Basic math skills for financial reporting.
