Performs a variety of tasks involved in the maintenance, repair, and/or construction of the City's wastewater collection and drinking water distribution systems. Employee supervision depends on experience and license level: trainees work under close supervision with limited autonomy, while Level III licensed operators have some decision-making flexibility with minimal supervision. The essential functions listed are representative of the tasks performed within this classification and are not exhaustive. Management may assign additional duties not listed if they are logical for the position. Performs basic operations involving construction, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater systems. Performs maintenance and repair of vehicles, equipment, facilities, and tools. Operates specialized vehicles, tools, and equipment used in water and wastewater system maintenance. Reads and records water meters accurately for billing. Installs, changes meters, and manages service connections. Performs lawn and grounds maintenance. Cleans and maintains buildings and equipment, including air filters and landscaping. Maintains fire hydrants in service areas. Maintains records and logs; completes reports as needed. Ensures work areas are safe and free of hazards. Assists in resolving customer issues and collecting overdue accounts. Assists in constructing plant equipment and facilities. May be required to work weekends, holidays, and respond to after-hours calls. Supervision:

None Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, with at least one year of maintenance experience or equivalent education, training, and experience. A Florida CDL with appropriate endorsements is preferred. A Class III Distribution System Operator license and a backflow tester and repair license are preferred; if not held, must obtain a Distribution 3 license within 18 months of employment. Regular attendance is required. Job Levels: Systems Technician Trainee : Entry level, performs tasks while learning, with training provided. Salary range: $37,307 - $57,826. Systems Technician I : Technical level, performs skilled tasks, requires Level III license. Salary range: $41,696 - $68,829. Systems Technician II : Journey level, requires Level II license and backflow certification. Salary range: $48,279 - $74,832. Systems Technician III : Senior level, requires Level I license and backflow repair certification. Salary range: $53,765 - $83,336. Candidate must pass interviews, medical tests, and background checks. Additional qualifications include knowledge of water and wastewater systems, safety, maintenance, and ground work; ability to work independently, communicate effectively, organize tasks, and interact courteously with the public. All employees have emergency response duties and may be called upon outside regular hours, including relocation to emergency sites under challenging conditions.
