Purpose: Valkyrie Enterprises has need for a Database Specialist/ Software Developer. Join a tight-knit team that maintains and grows a suite of web applications supporting our mission. Collaborate closely with engineers and software developers to contribute to our .NET Framework web applications that support the scenario design process. We value creativity, collaboration, and a passion for continuous learning. Job Description: Take the lead on complex SQL Server and Postgres design, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Support effort to migrate and integrate data between SQL Server and Postgres environments. Contribute to our .NET MVC web applications (C#, Kendo/Telerik, front-end integrations). Work alongside a small team of developers in a collaborative environment. Help shape best practices for data access, schema design, and performance across our applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers and developers to enhance and modernize tools and processes. Participate in requirements gathering and interface directly with end-users to understand their needs and design solutions. Perform full-stack development tasks including working with SQL databases, back-end services, and front-end UI components. Apply best practices for software development, focusing on quality, scalability, and maintainability. Ensure timely completion of tasks with a focus on excellence, even within tight deadlines. Contribute to team knowledge and innovation by bringing new ideas and solutions to the table. Work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment. Qualifications: Must have a Bachelors degree and at least 2-10 years of professional experience in software/database development. Must have strong knowledge of SQL Server schema design and optimization. Must have solid experience with Postgres, including performance tuning and cross-platform data considerations. Must have working knowledge in C# / .NET MVC web development. Must be comfortable working in a small team where you may wear multiple hats. Must have strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on complex issues. Must have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to new technologies quickly. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with end-users and technical teams to understand and meet user requirements. Must be highly motivated, proactive, and committed to delivering quality work within deadlines. Desired Qualifications: 7-10 years of professional experience in software/database development, preferred. Experience with JavaScript, preferred. Familiarity with DoD contract work and software environments, preferred. Background in both application and database architecture, preferred. Strong experience with full-stack development, including front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and back-end development (C# and .NET Framework) , preferred. Proficiency in designing, implementing, and optimizing SQL database structures and queries, preferred. Experience with AI and ML, preferred. Experience with Agile development methodologies, preferred. Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and best practices, preferred. Previous experience in the defense or aerospace industry is a plus, though not required, preferred. Passion for working on mission-critical applications in a fast-paced environment, preferred. Active SECRET clearance, preferred. Security Requirements: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance. Travel Requirements: Minimal Travel If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements: Work will be performed in various environments to include office, industrial and lab settings. Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
