Overview
The Security Manager assists the Director of Security in daily operations, ensuring the protection of property, guests, and staff. Responsibilities include risk and fire prevention, incident logging, and compliance with local regulations and the hotel’s insurance requirements. The role focuses on improving guest and team satisfaction while maximizing departmental financial performance. Responsibilities
Assist the Director of Security in operations and functions, including safety promotion, OSHA compliance, incentive programs, system use, lost and found, department management, and federal, state, and local standard adherence. Administer patrol of the interior and perimeter of the hotel and property to observe and identify potential safety and security risks. Direct and lead investigations of accidents, thefts, property loss, and unlawful activities. Respond to emergency situations, including safety hazards, fires, medical emergencies, and threats to life and/or property. Liaise with federal, state, and local law enforcement. Oversee administration and accuracy of all required reports and documentation. Respond to guest inquiries and requests in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner. Supervise scheduling, counseling, evaluations, and recognition of team members. Recruit, interview, and train security personnel. Maintain regular presence throughout the department and promote positive relations with patrons and team members. Support the Director of Security in accident/near miss investigations, property inspections, job hazard analysis, and safety compliance reviews. Qualifications
3+ years of experience in security operations, including 2 years in a leadership role, preferably in hospitality. Degree or diploma in a related field, or equivalent education and experience. Experience working in a NYC Union environment and familiarity with NYC CBA/IWA. Must obtain and maintain all required licenses and certifications per federal, state, and local requirements. Must successfully pass background check and drug screening. Must hold New York City Fire Safety Director certification. Security license and Fire & Life Safety Director license preferred. Physical Demands
Move throughout the business for extended periods (standing, walking, kneeling, bending). Make repeating arm, hand, and wrist movements. Communicate verbally, perceive sound, and observe visually. Use manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination with arms above shoulders. Move objects up to 50 pounds (25 kilograms). Tolerate exposure to heat, cold, chemicals, and loud/noisy environment. Operate potentially hazardous equipment. Additional Requirements
Self‑starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong organizational skills. Must meet all legal licensing requirements. Ability to travel occasionally and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
