The Resident Engineer will be required to develop and maintain an expertise on the products deployed within the customer’s network and provide mentoring on Juniper solutions. The candidate will need to demonstrate a proven track of experience in the Resident Engineering environment. This is a senior role, and the candidate must be able to work on its own, under live network environment pressure. Responsibilities

Design Validation and Verification testing Interoperability testing, multi-vendor Acceptance testing of new software releases Adaptation of test cases for automated testing Consulting services for new features and technologies Implementation support Knowledge Transfer to customer staff Troubleshooting/fault finding and supporting operations Operational assistance (customer NOC) Software Versioning Review Analyzing network configurations Assisting with network inventory tracking and management Testing Juniper Networks product features and functionality Providing regular updates on work in progress and current issues Developing network and equipment operating procedures Assisting in the ongoing definition of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the network and services Opening and helping drive Juniper TAC cases through to problem resolution Producing written summary reports of the status of equipment and network problems, plus pertinent technical documentation, as requested by the customer Holding technology workshops with the customer to discuss equipment and network problems and provide the reasons for problems encountered and the workarounds and/or solutions that are being tried Training the customer’s implementation and support personnel to configure and operate Juniper Networks products and best practices Assisting the customer to develop Network Operating and Equipment Operating Procedures. The RE may also need to develop secondary skills in other products in the Juniper portfolio Serving as a central point of contact between the customer, Account Team, Juniper Technical Assistance Centre (JTAC), Engineering, Product Line Management (PLM) and Customer Services Being part of the customer’s operating team for maintenance windows, supporting software upgrades and migrations Education and Experience

5-year+ experience providing implementation and technical support of networking products (routers and switches) in WAN and LAN environments. Qualifications

A detailed understanding of the protocols surrounding IP service provider networks, including TCP/IP fundamentals, IP sub-netting and super-netting, hierarchical routing principles, routing protocol operation (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, RSVP, IPv6, Segment Routing and BGP), and routing policies at BGP peering points Detailed technical experience in the installation and operation of switches and IP routers, including hands-on operation of management tools and network analyzers Strong experience in troubleshooting complex issues both at the device-level and network-level in a multi-vendor environment Comprehensive understanding of new WAN architectures including segment routing SRv6 Understanding of multicast protocols and IPTV services over an IP infrastructure Comprehensive understanding of Broadband Networks Gateway (BNG) using PPPoE/RADIUS and an understanding of QoS and PWHT Experience with Juniper MX or comparable BNG platforms is a plus Previous experience with Juniper Networks products (ACX, MX, PTX, EX, QFX, SRX) and JUNOS software Comfortable with Linux or UNIX implementations, with scripting skills Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills; ability to work under pressure Strong communications skills, with the ability to clearly articulate findings to technical and non-technical audiences Preferred Qualifications

Juniper Networks Technical Certifications: JNCIP or JNCIE Experience in network installation and deployment with Juniper devices in Service Provider or large enterprise environments Additional Skills

The expected salary/wage range for a U.S.-based hire filling this position is USD 101,900.00 - 234,500.00 per year. Offers may vary by location, experience, and other factors.
