Overview UM Campus Dining invites applications for a
Lead Cashier
to supervise and provide training of students and temporary staff in the cashier area. This position is actively involved in all aspects of the Campus Dining Center setup, service, and opening and closing tasks related to the Center’s operation.
Responsibilities
Provide accurate and skillful cash handling and use of the POS terminal
Provide outstanding guest service by smiling, greeting, and thanking every guest
Prepare and serve food when required
Clean and sanitize equipment and assist with inventories
Communicate openly with UM staff, faculty, students, and guests
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and managers
May set up or close down the store following an opening or closing checklist
Qualifications
High School diploma and one (1) year of cashiering experience
Working knowledge and experience in food service
Experience with training and supervisory practices and procedures
Proficiency operating a POS system in a food service environment
ServSafe certified or ability to become certified within one (1) year of employment
Excellent communication and guest service skills
Positive attitude at all times and ability to work within a diverse workforce
Ability to be productive in a fast‑paced environment and move throughout the operation as needed
Knowledge and experience using standard food service equipment
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Adherence to safety standards and active participation in health and safety practices
Compensation Compensation Title:
Culinary Associate II
Work Schedule Academic Year Full‑time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 10 months/year, August through May
Benefits Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program
