SQL DBA (Hybrid – Lansing, MI)
Contract – 12 months with possible extension. Hybrid schedule: onsite Wednesdays and Thursdays, remote Monday/Tuesday. Local candidates only within 2 hours of Lansing, MI.
Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances across development, test, and production environments.
Perform regular backups, restores, and recovery testing to ensure data integrity and availability.
Monitor and maintain database performance, availability, and security using SSMS, SQL Server Agent, and third‑party monitoring solutions (e.g., SolarWinds, Redgate, Idera).
Manage indexes, partitions, statistics, and schema parameters to support peak performance.
Apply patches, updates, and version upgrades as needed.
Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and system alerts.
Collaborate with IT and DevOps teams to ensure server stability and uptime.
Implement and manage user roles, permissions, and access controls to enforce data security policies.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and high‑availability strategies.
Provide technical leadership in database design, architecture, and governance.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA.
Strong proficiency in T‑SQL and PL/SQL with expertise in query optimization and performance tuning.
Extensive experience with SSMS, SQL Server Agent, and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Redgate, or Idera.
Solid understanding of database security, backup strategies, recovery models, and high‑availability configurations.
Familiarity with ETL processes, PowerShell scripting, and Azure SQL is a plus.
Proven ability to enforce development standards and collaborate across teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong communication and collaboration across technical and business stakeholders.
