SQL DBA – Lansing, MI (Local Candidates Only)
Senior SQL Database Administrator role at Source Code Technologies LLC. In‑person interview only.
Location:
Lansing, MI
Duration:
1 year with possible extension
Hybrid Schedule:
Two days per week onsite (Wednesday and Thursday)
Job Overview The role focuses on data analysis, database design, performance tuning, and maintaining data integrity across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain logical and physical database structures.
Perform database performance tuning, indexing, partitioning, and statistics management.
Develop, review, and optimize T‑SQL and PL/SQL code, including functions, procedures, and packages.
Implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures; perform regular recovery testing.
Monitor database availability, security, and performance using SSMS, SQL Server Agent, and third‑party tools (SolarWinds, Redgate, Idera).
Collaborate with IT, DevOps, and data warehousing teams to support data transfer, transformation, and security governance.
Lead the enforcement of database policies, standards, and best practices across development teams.
Provide technical leadership in the design and management of physical database structures to support optimal performance and scalability.
Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, system alerts, and logs.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 12‑14 years of experience as a SQL Database Administrator.
Strong proficiency in T‑SQL, PL/SQL, and query optimization.
Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Agent, and monitoring tools.
Solid understanding of database security, backup strategies, recovery models, and high availability configurations.
Familiarity with ETL processes, PowerShell scripting, and/or Azure SQL is a plus.
Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and collaboration skills.
Experience with containerization, cloud environments, or DevOps practices is a plus.
Technical Skills
Advanced T‑SQL and PL/SQL coding, including functions, procedures, and packages.
SQL Server administration: installation, configuration, backup, restore, patching, and upgrade.
Performance tuning: indexing, statistics, partitions, and query optimization.
Monitoring and troubleshooting: SSMS, SQL Server Agent, third‑party tools (SolarWinds, Redgate, Idera).
Security, access control, and disaster recovery planning.
PowerShell scripting, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD practices.
Communication and collaboration across cross‑functional teams.
Required/Preferred Experience
SQL: 10 years
PowerShell: 6 years
Azure DevOps: 6 years
