SQL Database Administrator – Lansing, MI (Hybrid – Onsite 2 days a week)
KSN Technologies, Inc. is hiring a SQL DBA for a 12‑month contract. Candidates must be located within 2 hours of Lansing (remote not allowed).
Job Overview As a SQL DBA you will design, implement, and maintain SQL Server environments across development, test, and production. This role focuses on performance tuning, backup strategy, disaster recovery, and database security while collaborating closely with application development and IT architecture teams.
Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances and monitoring tools (SSMS, SQL Server Agent, SolarWinds, Redgate, Idera).
Perform regular backups, restores, disaster recovery testing, and patch management.
Monitor database performance, manage indexes, partitions, statistics, and schema parameters.
Lead database design, architecture, and modeling (logical and physical) and enforce stored procedure, package, and function standards.
Optimize T‑SQL and PL/SQL code, review code reviews, and support application developers with data access strategies.
Collaborate with DevOps, IT, and data warehouse teams to integrate ETL processes, PowerShell scripts, and Azure SQL components.
Ensure database security, compliance, and governance (roles, permissions, access controls).
Document database architecture, backup strategy, and recovery procedures.
Qualifications
10+ years of database administration experience, primarily with SQL Server.
Strong proficiency in T‑SQL and PL/SQL, query optimization, and performance tuning.
Experience with SSMS, SQL Server Agent, monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Redgate, Idera), and backup strategy.
Solid understanding of database security, backup strategies, recovery models, and high availability configurations.
Familiarity with ETL processes, PowerShell scripting, and/or Azure SQL is a plus.
Proven ability to enforce development standards across teams.
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a hybrid environment.
Interview Process Virtual interview via MS Teams video (use laptop and be prepared to share screen). 2nd round interviews may be held in-person; candidates must be available for an in-person interview.
