Military Funeral Honors State Coordinator

Overview The Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors program renders professional and dignified military funeral honors in accordance with service tradition. SRI seeks committed Military Funeral Honors State Coordinators to provide critical services to military members, Department of the Army civilians, and their families.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Serve as a subject matter expert on Military Funeral Honors functions and requirements.
Provide general planning, coordination, and budget analysis to the State Military Authority.
Maintain access to, conduct reviews, identify trends, and analyze Veteran and Military Funeral Honors State data.
Draft, review, advise, and recommend on Military Funeral Honors Program policies, SOPs, and objectives.
Coordinate, plan, and develop statewide operations for the Military Funeral Honors Program.
Assist in the development of related charts, graphs, briefings, and other presentation aids.
Serve as a single point of contact for the State regarding requested support; maintain a 24‑hour response capability.
Ensure missions conducted, supported, and non‑supported are tracked and recorded in the Military Funeral Honors database.
Coordinate, advise, recommend, and guide an active recruiting and retention program for the State/Territory Military Funeral Honors program.
Assist and oversee training of programs and exercises related to State Honor Guard ceremonies.
Monitors and evaluates Honor Guard performance and provides recommendations to the State Military Authority.
Assist in developing and managing the annual budget for the Military Funeral Honors program.
Establish and maintain rapport with external agencies, including Army Installation Casualty Assistance Centers, Veteran Service Organizations, funeral homes, and cemeteries.
Required Skills, Education, Experience, and Abilities
Must have served or currently serving with the military or supported the military in some capacity.
Knowledge of applicable military regulations, policies, and directives pertaining to MFH ceremonies.
Knowledge of military drill & ceremonies techniques.
Broad‑based knowledge, experience, and skills in military funerals, casualty assistance, and an understanding of the Army National Guard.
Self‑starter capable of executing responsibilities with minimum oversight.
Exceptional leadership, communication, time management, facilitation, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Current and valid state driver’s license.
High School Degree; some college is preferred.
US Citizen.
Upon Hiring, Training Includes
Military Funeral Honors eligibility requirements.
Setting up the squad/drill team.
Graveside services for casketed and cremated remains.
Honor Guard firing of the volley.
Bugler or proper use of the ceremonial bugle.
Folding and presenting the flag.
Maintaining training records.
