Experience/Education:

Bachelor’s degree and 2 to 4 years of Systems Administrator experience in a Windows-based environment or high school diploma/equivalent and 6 years of professional IT support experience.

Certifications:

CompTIA A+, Network+, and/or Security+ Certifications

We are seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. The qualified applicant will become part of the Department of State (DOS), for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to provide IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize legacy networks, applications and databases supporting CA services globally. The ideal candidate will work with minimal direction as a seasoned resource, installing, configuring, troubleshooting, resolving complex issues, and supporting ongoing usability of desktop computers, laptops, software/hardware, and peripheral technology.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Provide planning, installation, training, support, monitoring, and maintenance of HW and software including Consular Affairs applications and infrastructure.

Coordinate and inform CA/CST management of risks impacting IT services, including power outages, environmental changes, natural disasters, accidents, and vendor actions.

Plan upgrades, perform monthly restores, replace HW/SW components, and decommission hardware as needed.

Perform backups, restores, purges, and ongoing data and system management.

Monitor and document abnormal performance of servers, workstations, and services.

Provide server/workstation security services and ensure Symantec Endpoint Protection compliance.

Maintain and communicate configurations, diagrams, and documentation.

Document, track, and report on support provided to Consular facilities and follow up on trouble calls.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong Systems Administrator experience in a Windows-based environment.

Knowledge and understanding of Cisco switching and routing technologies.

Experience with ServiceNow or Remedy Ticket Management System.
