Job Description
Are you a detail-oriented legal professional with a passion for justice and public service? Our client is seeking a skilled Paralegal to support attorneys in a variety of specialized legal assignments. This is a dynamic opportunity to work on meaningful cases, contribute to courtroom preparation, and play a key role in the legal process.
Working under the general direction of an attorney, the Paralegal will assist with case preparation, legal research, document drafting, and courtroom coordination. This position offers a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your legal knowledge and organizational skills will be highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys in preparing cases for court hearings (in-person and via Zoom)
Present cases in court as needed
Compile, analyze, and interpret case documents (e.g., financial records, custody agreements, employment records)
Draft legal documents including motions, briefs, and pleadings
Prepare and file exhibits, court orders, and appendices in compliance with local court rules
Communicate with parties, private counsel, and court personnel
Coordinate and collect genetic test specimens; handle sensitive paternity-related matters
Evaluate hearing requests and schedule court appearances
Conduct legal research and summarize findings for attorney review
Maintain accurate and confidential case files
Education & Experience:
Associate degree in Paralegal Studies, completion of an ABA-approved paralegal program, or paralegal certification
Minimum 2 years of full-time experience as a paralegal
Previous Family Court experience required
Licensing: A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment
Knowledge & Skills:
Familiarity with court rules, legal terminology, and legal procedures
Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong legal research and document drafting skills
Ability to interpret and apply laws, policies, and court orders
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
Capable of working independently and collaboratively
