Varada Consulting is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support mission-critical systems within the Intelligence Community. This role requires expertise in designing, configuring, and maintaining secure, scalable network infrastructures. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Cisco, JunOS, VMware, and VLAN setup, and be skilled in managing system architecture, troubleshooting, and compliance with FAR, DFAR, and RMF requirements. You will work closely with system engineers to optimize network performance, reduce latency, and ensure high availability and fault tolerance across both WAN and LAN environments. You will also play a critical role in implementing network security solutions and responding to DCAA and DCMA audit requirements. Core Tasks : Configure and optimize network switches, routers, and firewalls. Configure Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDPS) Configure and troubleshoot virtual networking, VLANs, and virtual routing and forwarding (VRFs). Develop and implement network backup and recovery procedures. Diagnose network connectivity problems. Install and maintain network infrastructure device operating system software. Monitor network capacity and performance. Mitigate network vulnerabilities to ensure information is safeguarded against outside parties. Test and maintain network infrastructure, including software and hardware devices. Implement specific network solutions to support server requirements to include load-balancing, VPN's, firewall contexts, and network address translation (NAT) where appropriate Minimize network latency and maximize data throughput through design analysis and network performance monitoring tools. Optimize end-to-end system performance and dataflow management Coordinate with the system engineering and dataflow efforts to ensure proper mission operations to minimize downtime. Design solutions, integrate, configure, deploy, test, and provide ongoing maintenance for numerous types of network devices, interfaces, and methodologies. Facilitate the implementation of high-speed, scalable, fault-tolerant network topologies as applicable to WAN and LAN design. Provides assistance in all aspects of network management, from network design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of existing networks. Analyzes design, specification, and related documents and implements communication system requirements to support the distributed functionality of a software engineering environment Analyze network characteristics (e.g. traffic connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes and throughput), troubleshoots problems and recommend procurement of, and/or modifications Requirements : Bachelor’s in Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, Math and 8 years’ experience as Network Engineer in programs that encompass system architecture, requirements analysis, process execution, and evaluation. 3 years of direct experience with IC or SIGINT activity Experience with Cisco IOS, JunOS or equivalent Experience with VMware Experience with Switch VLAN setup Ability to demonstrate cyber/IT related experience with attention to detail, customer service, oral and written communication, and problem solving. Active TS/SCI with Full scope polygraph, CI poly current under 6 yrs Preferred: Understanding of project design within the scope of security (RMF) requirements Clearance Requirements: An Active Top Secret clearance/SCI with Polygraph Join an Award-Winning Team!
