Overview
Eagle County Government is hiring one Vehicle Titling & Licensing Specialist I, II, OR Lead. The position offer will be based on experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. Hiring Ranges: Specialist I: $25.50-$30 (Max pay $34.42) Specialist II: $27.50-$33 (Max pay $38.45) Specialist Lead: $30.25-$36.35 (Max pay $42.29) The Vehicle Titling & Licensing Specialist I, II, OR Lead is responsible for direct customer service and fulfillment of all Motor Vehicle Title and Registration transactions in accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes and Clerk office policies. They professionally communicate applicable laws and procedures, recommend solutions, and collect statutory Motor Vehicle revenue due to state and local tax jurisdictions on each vehicle transaction. This position is highly complex and requires a minimum of one year of hands-on and back-office training to become competent with a majority of responsibilities and functions. This position also assists with election and voter services during election periods. Location : Avon, CO with upcoming move to Edwards, CO. The role is based in Avon until relocation to Edwards in March 2026. Applications from adaptable individuals who are comfortable commuting to Avon for approximately one year are welcome. Schedule : Office hours Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Flexible start and end times may be required due to customer traffic and flex schedule. Key Responsibilities: Examine and verify valid forms of Secure and Verifiable Identification (SVID) from various sources. Process motor vehicle documentation including titles, registrations, sales tax receipts, VIN inspections, insurance certificates, and more. Understand requirements for transferring vehicle ownership, including out-of-state/country vehicles, and assist with acquiring titles when originals are unavailable. Verify required documents to issue temporary vehicle registration permits. Issue and renew license plates, year tabs, and month tabs from inventory. Facilitate the application and issuance of specialty license plates, including personalized, disabled, and military plates. Provide prompt, professional, and grammatically correct responses to complex customer inquiries via phone, email, and in-person. Perform opening, closing, cash handling, and deposit procedures. Complete daily back-office work, including online and mail transactions, and title maintenance. Assist with voter services during election periods as needed. Qualifications Vehicle Titling & Licensing Specialist I Two years of proven success in a role involving interpretation and application of complex rules and regulations, data entry, financial management, cash management, and customer service, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) or equivalent. Ability to type 45 words per minute. Excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to be a team player with a positive, adaptable, flexible attitude. Ability to multi-task and work independently with frequent interruptions. Specialist II and Lead distinctions Specialist II : Handles motor vehicle transactions at an increased level of complexity; requires at least 1.5 years of proven success in a Vehicle Titling & Licensing Specialist role. Mentor, train, and support teammates as a key skill. Specialist Lead : Responsible for direct customer service and fulfillment at all levels of complexity; provides direction to staff and oversees daily tasks; requires at least 3 years of proven success in a Vehicle Titling & Licensing role; leads by example in customer service and cash handling procedures.
