Description

Provides mentorship and advocacy services to youth ages 16 – 24 with a consistent caseload of 40 youth. Works with each youth to develop an Individualized Service Plan to address areas for improvement and connect to employment and/or educational opportunities. Major Duties And Responsibilities

Assists with recruiting and retaining youth into employability skills training, subsidized placement, and long-term employment. Works with Coordinator to develop and implement an employer engagement strategy to create subsidized and unsubsidized work experiences for youth ages 16–24. General range of youth to be placed is 100. Subsidized work experiences include short-term placements where youth gain technical skills in a specific industry; documentation includes agreement, job description, and safety checklist. Unsubsidized placement includes both part- and full-time employment; employment verifications must be collected by employer/youth. Develops employer engagement in high-demand industries and career pathways. Utilizes Illinois WorkNet Information and Target Occupational Profiles to target employer relationships and potential openings. Markets, recruits and maintains relationships with employers that expose youth to long-term career and education opportunities. Collaborates with Academic Specialist/Mentor and youth to develop an Individualized Service Plan and assist with employment placements for specific career goals. Coordinates with SGA leadership to develop and implement hiring events and job fairs for youth. Works with other youth advocates and justice system representatives to support youth in complying with mandates. Co-facilitates employability skills training for all youth to support gainful employment. Collaborates within targeted communities to cultivate relationships with local resources. Reaches out and re-engages youth with inconsistent attendance, works with families to connect resources to the home, and connects with programs. Conducts home visits. Participates in recruitment events such as resource fairs, career fairs and tabling at local schools and partner events. Transporting students to and from program-related activities may be required. Implements other services requested by SGA. Develops relationships in the community and Chicago for worksite placement and enrichment opportunities. Prepares required reports and data materials to SGA such as the Employability and Life Skills Assessment. Other duties as assigned. Requirements

Experience working one-on-one with youth involved in the juvenile justice system. Ability to display sensitivity to cultural differences present in the service population. Experience/Education Required/Sought

Associates Degree in social work, criminal justice or related field, preferred. Experience working with teens and young adults, preferred. Experience working in neighborhoods in Lake County. Experience working with individuals at risk of aggressive behavior. Evening and weekend availability required. Full Time Employee Benefits Package
