Overview
We are seeking a full-time
Windows Systems Administrator 2
in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently managing technology through the use of tools and scripting along with organizing, leading, and coordinating with other parts of IT to ensure components of overall system are managed.
Essential Functions
Designs and develops complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance of Garmin’s Windows server computing systems
Performs and evaluates costs analyses and vendor comparisons for small through large scale projects to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations and measures feasibility of various approaches and makes recommendations
Continuously develops technical subject matter expertise on established and emerging server, storage, email, file, and collaboration systems and other server-based technologies
Communicates effectively regarding system operations and environment changes
Adheres to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory requirements as dictated
Understands and avoids capacity, redundancy, and health constraints of server, storage, email, file, and collaboration systems
Ensures that all security requirements are met or exceeded, and appropriate levels of security access is monitored
Demonstrates proficient use and knowledge of standards and procedures
Serves as a mentor to less experienced IT Administrators (Administrator 1)
Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques including performing root cause analysis and identification of corrective action for given problems
Performs and plans minor version upgrades and coordinates cross team non-project changes
Makes recommendations for component level improvements and identifies interdependencies in system and application components
Organizes and leads meetings with users of IT systems and participates in roadmap planning for systems or applications
Provides 24x7 on-call support
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another technology related field
AND
a minimum of 2 years relevant experience
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Ability to author and implement basic scripting and coding to automate technical needs such as moving files, backups, creating configurations, or other tasks
Demonstrates ability to solve moderately complex technical problems independently
Demonstrates experience in successful implementation of technology solutions
Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization
Desired Qualifications
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
