The

Copper Splicing Technician

will splice and maintain copper cable as well as various communication equipment for both landline and wireless communications. Responsibilities

Install, repair and test copper cables using bucket trucks or by climbing poles or ladders, or entering tunnels, trenches, or confined spaces. Work safely and follow safety guidelines when in the vicinity of power, aloft, in confined spaces, on rooftops, through basements and roadside. Climb stepped and non-stepped utility poles to access work areas. Climbing with gaffs required. Connect and rearrange cable facilities per splice documents. Clean or maintain tools or test equipment. Maintain work equipment or machinery. Read and interpret blueprints and splice diagrams. Qualifications

3+ years of OSP lineman, telecommunications experience preferred Properly climb wood poles with the ability to safely use ladders Ability to perform all duties in telecom construction Experience with OTDR testing and troubleshooting Knowledge of cable size, count and color code Must be able to work in all weather conditions Must be able to carry 70 lbs., including an extension ladder Must be able to work at heights of 45 feet Must be able to bend, stand, sit, crawl, climb and lift throughout the work shift High school diploma or equivalent Valid Driver's License Authorized to work in the United States Ability to pass drug and background screening Meet 275 lbs weight limit due to safety restriction Working Conditions

Splicing Technicians must be comfortable working at great heights and in confined spaces. You must be able to climb utility poles and balance while working on them. The work often requires driving utility vehicles and working outdoors. Splicing Technicians may work under challenging weather conditions, such as snow, wind, rain, and extreme heat and cold. Travel and weekend work may be required. Physical Requirements

Must be able to work in aerial buckets that have a restriction of 300 pounds with PPE and tools. Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds, including the ability to carry, climb and operate an extension ladder (approximately 28 ft high and 75 pounds).
