Base pay range $66,951.00/yr - $85,138.00/yr
Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time.
Duties Under the direction of the Information Technology Specialist 3, SG-23, within the Chief Technology Office/Data Center Operations, the position will be part of a team responsible for providing 24 X7 service to our customer agencies in Production Control in a Unisys A series, Unisys 2200 series, and/or open systems environment.
Specific Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
Support multiple NYS agency applications through a workstation in a mixed operating system environment (OS2200, Linux/Unix, Windows) to manage and monitor automated job scheduling using enterprise workload automation tool OpCon.
Schedule and monitor on demand batch work inserted into the regular schedules.
Monitor the start, progress and completion of automated schedules.
Monitor system availability and initiate corrective procedures for failed jobs including:
Follow escalation procedures to notify appropriate parties regarding application or system problems.
Work with agency application support staff to perform necessary tasks to resolve issues.
Provide overall status at the end of shift (turnover) to incoming next shift staff.
Maintain daily lists, logs and reports.
Periodically review unit documentation for functional accuracy and relevance and communicate deficiencies.
Understand and participate in Change Management and Problem Management processes.
Due to the secure nature of the work at the Data Center sites, candidates will be required to undergo a special background check.
Some travel to the other Data Center Sites may be needed for site coverage and for escort duty of non-authorized visitors.
Shift and Travel
Evening: Monday-Friday 3PM-11:15PM OR Weekend Nights: Friday-Sunday 7PM-8AM.
Up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs.
Some positions may require fingerprinting.
Qualifications
Open Competitive: A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science.
OR A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology.
OR 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology.
OR Two years of professional experience in information technology.
Promotion: Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 1, Salary Grade (SG) 14.
Transfer: Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 or Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming, G-18; OR in a title G-16 or above deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
55b/c Appointment: This position is eligible for 55b/c designation and candidates are encouraged to apply.
Appointment to this position and continued employment with the agency is contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining New York State residency within six months of hiring.
Appointment to this position is not final until all agency approvals have been granted.
Additional Comments
ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. It is the policy of ITS not to hire F1 or H1 visa holders for permanent employment or to sponsor non-immigrant aliens for temporary work authorization visas or for permanent residence.

Some positions may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs.

If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
