Position Summary

Department: Risk Manager

Shift: Day / Full Time

Location: 1414 Kuhl Ave, Orlando, FL

Title: Risk Manager III – Prevention

The Risk Manager is responsible for the facility or assigned area’s risk management activities.

Responsibilities

Administers and coordinates the risk management plan.

Interfaces with federal and state agencies.

Manages and analyzes risk management data for locations of oversight.

Conducts and supports risk management educational programs.

Serves as a risk management resource to risk managers, all clinical and support departments.

Complies with Florida Risk Statutes, the Joint Commission, and other accrediting and regulatory agencies.

Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other standards.

Participates in various human resources functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.

Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Develops, coordinates, and administers facility or assigned area-wide systems for risk identification, investigation, and reduction.

Provides proactive analysis of patient safety and medical errors processes.

Provides oversight, support, and response to escalation of on-call events for clinical risk management services and participates in on call responsibilities.

Facilitates and oversees all causes analysis investigations and reporting of adverse events and sentinel events to the appropriate parties.

Ensures participation on committees directed toward promoting patient safety issues.

Complies with various codes, laws and regulations concerning patient care, including incident reporting and investigation activities of federal, state and local enforcement authorities.

Maintains awareness and communication of legislative and regulatory activities related to health care risk management.

Oversees the collection, evaluation, and distribution of relevant data concerning patient injuries.

Provides in-service training to personnel to enhance their awareness of their role in reducing facility liability exposure.

Mentors new team members in Risk Management activities and is responsible for new hire orientation and applicable educational services.

Coordinates and leads projects.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Three plus (3) years’ experience in clinical risk management.

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in healthcare.

Certification required: preferred CPHRM and/or CPPS certification.

Five (5) years of clinical or medical legal experience, including three years’ experience in a supervisory capacity and two years risk management experience as a Risk Manager in Prevention.

Advanced PC literacy required.
