The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented individual who will oversee the company's financial records and account personnel. You will be responsible for maintaining all procedures and controls related to the organization's financial accounts.
Responsibilities
Manage accounting personnel and oversee associated accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets and grant billings.
Ensure that all accounting transactions are in compliance with GAAP and internal policies and that departmental activities are administered with adequate internal control.
Maintain the agency chart of accounts and perform general ledger maintenance as needed.
Prepare consolidated statements for the agency and related property corporation. Prepare monthly financial statements for the Board of Directors and board committees.
Prepare and submit all required monthly and annual national office financial reports on a timely basis
Develop the agency’s annual indirect cost rate proposal and submit to the US Department of Labor for approval. Communicate to program directors the provisional/approved indirect cost rate for grant purposes.
Assist program directors/managers with the preparation of annual budgets, ensuring program staff understand their budgets. Manage the budget process to ensure budgets are completed on time and that all funding source match requirements or other mandates are properly reflected in the budgets.
Coordinate the annual consolidated audit of the agency act as primary liaison with the external auditors.
Develop internal accounting procedures for those that need creation and ensure existing procedures are routinely updated. Ensure all staff are trained in new/changing procedures.
Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) duties as assigned by supervision & PQI duties as assigned by supervision & PQI Committee.
Other projects as assigned
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with 7–10 years of relevant accounting experience at the assistant controller/controller level, or a related education/experience combination.
Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop accounting staff.
Proven experience using Microsoft Dynamics GP or similar mid-market general ledge software package.
Proven oral and written communication skills.
Excellent financial and analytical abilities with the ability to compile, analyze and present concise results in a meaningful manner.
Demonstrated process design/improvement skills.
Self-starter, proactive approach to responsibilities.
