Investigator 1 - Non-Permanent

Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC) . THIS RECRUITMENT IS FOR INTERNAL WADOC EMPLOYEES ONLY. The Department of Corrections is seeking highly motivated and qualified individuals to fill one non-permanent full-time Investigator 1 position at CRCC. CRCC is located on a 60-acre site about 40 miles north of the Tri-Cities and consists of the Medium Security Complex (MSC) and the Minimum Security Unit (MSU). This is a work/program oriented facility offering educational, vocational, and self-help programs and correctional industries work programs. Responsibilities

Gather facts and develop evidence to complete investigative casework from initial claim to preparation for presentation in court for administrative hearings. Research records, preserve documentary evidence, obtain statements, conduct surveillance, and operate electronic monitoring, photographic, and recording equipment as required. Compile documentation and intelligence regarding inappropriate activities by staff, incarcerated individuals, visitors, and associates; focused on Incarcerated Individuals investigations. Maintain Investigations SharePoint sites, databases, and unit files; prepare tables, charts, graphs, and statistical reports; interpret data at a basic level. Conduct investigative evidence gathering and enter information into case reports, monitoring systems, and other DOC information sources; related to investigative operations. Write investigative reports, establish proof of facts and evidence; conduct interviews; review case work with law enforcement agencies and others; testify in court or other proceedings as necessary. May function as a limited authority peace officer, as defined by RCW 10.93.020. Provide investigative administrative support to the CRCC Intelligence and Investigations Unit and monitor/transcribe communications; draft and review correspondence; ensure policy compliance. Screen, sort, and distribute correspondence and phone calls; maintain calendars, schedules, and arrange travel for the Chief Investigator and unit members. Order unit office supplies and equipment; act as Public Disclosure Liaison; compile reports and correspondence for Public Disclosure requests; ensure timely response. May assist in conducting statewide INN audits and respond to statewide emergencies requiring investigative support. This position may be authorized to carry a department-issued firearm in performance of duties, with background checks and training completed as required. Qualifications

Required Qualifications

High School Graduation or GED 1 year of administrative support experience using OMNI, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint Knowledge of criminal intelligence analysis techniques, steps of the criminal intelligence process, and applicable crimes and laws Ability to write clear and concise reports Knowledge of investigative procedures and practices, business management, research methods, data collection, and communication practices Ability to work independently; read, understand, and interpret policy and procedure; develop written reports; work effectively with others; communicate effectively in writing and speech Preferred/Desired Qualifications

Ability to think critically; collect, analyze, and disseminate criminal intelligence to Executive Staff and other agencies Organizational skills to prioritize workload and adapt to changing demands Ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy; interpersonal tact on calls Expert level knowledge of OMNI, SharePoint, Outlook, and Excel Six (6) months experience monitoring the incarcerated phone system Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment

This position may be allocated for telework. Work may be performed from home or another offsite location within Washington using internet access; some onboarding and onsite presence at times may be required. What We Offer
