Position Summary Our client is a highly respected, long-standing technology provider with over 60 years of success in the Land Mobile Radio (LMR) industry. Competing effectively against larger manufacturers and systems integrators, the company delivers innovative solutions to State and Local Government customers nationwide.
We are seeking an experienced
Regional Sales Manager
with a strong track record in government sales, particularly within the State and Local Government marketplace. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in defining and executing effective sales strategies, building strong customer relationships, and leading complex sales efforts from capture to close. This individual will play a key role in shaping strategy, managing major accounts, and driving revenue growth across the assigned territory.
Key Responsibilities
Lead sales efforts by identifying and capturing major State and Local Government opportunities; consistently meet and exceed sales quotas.
Develop and execute multi-year strategic partner plans with clear goals, design-in targets, and relationship objectives.
Manage proposal preparation, pricing, and submission for State and Local bids.
Drive complex contract negotiations in collaboration with legal counsel.
Partner with marketing to identify new opportunities and develop effective go-to-market strategies.
Represent the company at trade shows and industry events.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with decision-makers, influencers, and key agency contacts.
Deliver presentations, product demonstrations, and proposal briefings as needed.
Provide timely forecasting, reporting, and pipeline management.
Share competitive intelligence and customer insights with internal product and marketing teams.
Maintain technical knowledge and stay current with LMR and public safety communication trends.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum
5 years of sales experience
in LMR communications or related technical solutions.
Proven success selling into
State and Local Government agencies
(e.g., State Police, DOT, Emergency Management).
Strong background in proposal development, capture strategy, and contract negotiations.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Ability to build and sustain long-term relationships with government executives and technical stakeholders.
Highly self-motivated with strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
Ability to travel extensively across the assigned region.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, MPH, or equivalent) preferred.
Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams on government proposals.
Familiarity with government contracting vehicles, budget cycles, grant funding, and procurement processes.
Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales, revenue, and margin targets.
Knowledge of emerging technology trends in the LMR and public safety communications space.
History of securing and
winning large government contracts .
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Performance Expectations (First Year)
30 Days:
Gain understanding of the company’s State & Local Government strategy, structure, and compliance processes.
60 Days:
Develop familiarity with key government agencies, organizational structures, and client partners.
90 Days:
Begin active engagement with clients, building a sales funnel, and executing strategies to meet financial targets.
Working Conditions
Office and field-based work requiring regular travel.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when handling equipment.
Frequent use of PC, phone, and standard office tools.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.
